Castelfranco Veneto: welcome and hospitality.
Castelfranco Veneto is a feature of the walled city XII century with a medieval castle in excellent condition. As in the past also Castelfranco still continues to keep a particularly favorable position compared to major centers of the Veneto: makes it possible to reach Treviso, Venice, Padua and Vicenza, in addition to being a strategic point for the mountains located to the north. The picturesque beauty of nature attracts the tourist towards this place for enjoying the refreshing holidays far away from the busy routine life.
The story of Castelfranco starts with the construction of the castle (in 1195) by the Lords of Treviso, in an attempt to counter the rival Padua. The population of the fortress was favored exemption from taxes (hence the name of the city) and the fortification was covered from the beginning of an important development.
The castle, within which lies the old town, is the undisputed symbol of Castelfaranco with its impressive architecture with the towers. The opportunities offered to include culture lovers can also admire the works and extend the life of Giorgione, the great Renaissance painter who had in Castelfranco Veneto his birthplace, and whose famous works (such as Pala di Castelfranco) are kept in the Cathedral.
