Conegliano is particularly renowned as a city of Prosecco (together with Valdobbiadene), given the considerable production of this wine typically Venetian. The wine industry is highly developed in the local economy, with vineyards that arise virtually anywhere in the neighboring hills and a huge number of wineries. Originally built as a medieval village (in the twelfth century), located in a strategic point between the plains and mountains, Conegliano was soon the subject of attention from Treviso and after many dominations it came under the Republic of Venice.
